W.E.T. Selected is our editorial designation for stays that demonstrate a distinctive, coherent and credible approach to wellness. It is intentionally narrower than our wider Recommended inventory.
Selected vs Recommended
Selected means the wellness proposition is central enough to the stay that W.E.T. considers the property especially relevant for a wellness-led trip. Recommended means a property can still be a strong fit for a particular destination, spa, thermal, nature or lifestyle escape without meeting the same depth across every Selected criterion.
Our ten editorial criteria
- Wellness depth: wellness must be more than an add-on treatment menu.
- Coherence: facilities, services, food, movement, recovery and the guest journey should support a recognisable wellbeing proposition.
- Programme quality: where structured programmes are offered, their purpose, duration, inclusions and professional scope should be clear.
- Professional support: practitioner roles and any specialist or regulated services should be presented transparently.
- Personalisation: stronger properties adapt at least part of the experience to the guest rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package.
- Nutrition and lifestyle: food and daily rhythm should be consistent with the property’s wellness positioning where relevant.
- Sense of place: the setting, local culture, landscape or regional traditions should add meaning to the experience rather than functioning as decoration.
- Guest fit and usability: travellers should be able to understand who the stay suits, what to expect and how intensive the experience is.
- Information integrity: important claims, inclusions and boundaries should be sufficiently clear for W.E.T. to describe the offer responsibly.
- Safety and responsible boundaries: health-related, medical or intensive wellness offers should communicate contraindications, professional scope and appropriate guest safeguards clearly.
Selected is not for sale
W.E.T. Selected cannot be purchased. A hotel, retreat or wellness partner may have a commercial relationship with W.E.T., but that relationship does not determine editorial status, ranking or positive coverage.
Medical and clinical boundaries
Selected status is not medical endorsement. Where a property offers clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic, injectable, aesthetic or otherwise regulated services, W.E.T. does not independently certify medical efficacy. Travellers should confirm practitioner credentials, licensing, contraindications and individual suitability directly with the responsible provider.
Ongoing review
Wellness offers change. Facilities, practitioners, programme structures and operating models may evolve. Selected status can therefore be reviewed when material information changes or when W.E.T. identifies a meaningful gap between the published proposition and the current guest experience.
